HOW INTERNET HAS SIMPLIFIED COMMUNICATION TODAY

The use of web servers and browsers has been extended within organizations for private use. Many organizations build intranets with the same technology used on the Internet. The difference is that the access to intranets is limited to members of the organization or other authorized persons. Intranets typically use the same network that an organization uses for other purposes including accessing the Internet. Usually a computer that has special software a firewall, is installed between the Internet and the rest of the organizations network,  The function of a firewall is to prevent unauthorized people from coming through the Internet into the organization’s private network and accessing the intranet and private information intranets have proved to be very useful in many organizations as a communications tools for disseminating news and other information to employees for knowledge sharing conducting internal discussions, bulletin boards in general anything the Internet is used for but on a private internal basis.

The term extra net is sometimes used when a group of people such as customers or suppliers, is allowed to pass through  the firewall and access authorized sanctions of the intranet. By allowing admittance to an extra net companies can permit their regular customers to gain access to speciall in formation that is not available to the public. Extra nets provide the It the internet required inclide the users connected on it to share a single internet dial- up connection on the network, a proxy server that doals  into the internet connection ans all the nodes acess the essential on client machines, which have already been equipped with browser and e- mail software.

Train the users on mail and web applications. Show them how to use a discussion group, mailing list server, and FTP server. Show them how to convert their existing documentsand reports for the intrnets,a nd make the same available to all. Sho them how to  new contents using the office- suites, productivity tools HTML editors etc. set up a group of programmers to study the existing database and to web- enanbled them for intrarnet. The web is like a magize, and content vreation is more like publishing. The magazine id one web server and is meant for  employes of an organistion who are on the internt. The contents have to catchy, exciting, easy to aces and upto date. Web design and maintenance thus becomes the major isues on an intranet. Current internat technologiesl sufer from handscaps in that they canot easly handle problems such as updateing or changing expired links in web page, seting up directory of users and accessible files, or  managing documents and setinh version controls for routing.
