NON VERBAL FORMS OF COMMUNICATION THAT CAN BE USED IN CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

In early times there where instruments that could reproduce sounds or initiate speech .Thus,it is musical instruments which could convey messages,recipe proverbs,re-count history and Mystified the world. Such instruments that could perform those functions was DRUM due to the following reasons.

A DRUM talks by reproducing the tones of intonation patterns and rhythms of utterance and when can be used as the medium of communication because it is possible only when a language is tonal, that is when and where the tones of language are phonemic and are as much a part of the formation of words as vowels and consonants.

Example; In mist of Tanzanian societies they use drum in different ways such as "gogo" tribe from Dodoma region they use drum when they have their traditional celebrations such as after harvesting ,during marriage functions and also during 'jando' and 'unyago'

SONGS are also medium of communication they have served as a storehouse of information,a vehicle of expressing feelings and thoughts or public opinions and criticism ,a record of history as well as avenue of social actions. Therefore songs have been used for boasting ,for inciting people ,Expression of public opinion or making social commentary.

An effective use of song as a medium of communication is also being used in Tanzania societies.

Example; Nakaaya sumary a Tanzania female artist in her song MR POLITICIAN ,she has express her feelings about different politician s during the political campaign they promise the citizens different things in which at the end of the day when they win their post they do not fulfil their promises.

Also songs can be used when one wants to speak out freely during the festivals or different functions and any individual who has something to say must do so within a performing group of people by getting the group to take up what wanted to be expressed and if there is a person who will be offended by the group that is singing wishes to hit back must do so in a song with a counter performing group

Example In Tanzania most famous football teams wins and starting singing ,if other team will feel offended they can also start singing . And I have observe this in different match between them.

According to Mills (1998) pg 90-95 has mention other non -verbal forms of communications like .

Loudness; which is very essential and the first requisite of vocal sounds is that it could be enough for comfortable hearing , listening may be willing to exert efforts to hear a person with a weak voice if that person has something compelling to say .Changing in carrying help in emphasize to words or phrase.

Pitch ; like piano the voice has its own pitch range whether the pitch is high or low is determined by the rate at which the vocal cords vibrate the slower they vibrate the lower the pitch .changing in pitch level provide effective means of giving different shaded of meaning to the spoken words .

Moreover the changes helps to hold audience attention.
