Corporate communication is a set of activities involved in managing and orchestrating all internal and external communications aimed at creating favourable point of view among stakeholders on which the company depends it is the messages issued by a corporate organization, body or institute to its audiences such as employees, media, channel partners and the general public. Organizations aim to communicate the same message to all its stakeholders, to transmit coherence, credibility and ethic. Corporate communication enables organizations explain their mission; combine its many visions and values into cohesive message to stakeholders. The concept of corporate communication could be seen as integrative communication structure linking stakeholders to the organization. The following are the importance of the intranets to the corporate communication
Workforce productivity; intranet can help the users to locate and view information faster and use of the applications relevant to their roles and responsibilities. With the help of a web browser interface, users can access data held in any data base the organization wants to make available, anytime and subject to security provisions from anywhere within the company workstations, increasing employee’s ability to perform their job faster, more accurately and with the confidence that they have right information. It also helps to improve service provided by the users or intranets are the home for employees (ideally) and the intranet desktop is probably the first thing they see in the morning. An intranet which gives employees access to all the tools and information they need to effectively perform that days task every day, can go a thousand miles in improving productivity. Some examples of these tools and information are latest events and meetings, outstanding task, new discussions, Email.
 Communication; Intranets can serve as powerful tools for communication within an organization, vertically strategic initiatives that have global reach throughout the organization. The type of information that can easily be conveyed is the purpose of initiative and what initiative is aiming to achieve. By providing this information on the intranet, staff has opportunity to keep up-to-date with the strategic focus of organization. Some examples would be chat, email and blogs.
Spur collaboration; modern intranets have collaboration and social tools built into them not only can employees access work together on it within intranet. Networking tools allow employees to discover the skills and competencies of fellow workers and by pass corporate hierarchies to connect with them directly
Business operations and management; intranets are also being used as a platform for developing and deploying applications to support business operations and decisions across the intranet worked enterprise
 Intranets  make employees  more productive by providing an organization  a wide  variety of options such as collaboration tools, workflow  control, security  controls over access to the network, required  authorization to data and documents, bulletin boards areas to post information, the company directory, or a calendar  of events

Social networking sites such as facebook, twitter and instagram are just few options available to those who wish to stay connected to relevant information. Different  people  have  different preferences as how  they receive company information .Features  on an organization’s intranet should be not only visually  appealing, but  offer a variety of  channels to promote  communications with staff including emails, executive  blogs, comments   and social  networking features and employees should be  able  to  socialize  internally, linking  them  to  common interests, and  thereby strengthening  the  potential  in   improving  organizational  effectiveness.Implementetion  of a  relevant  and  useful  intranet  has  great  potential  in spurring  more interactivity  by  an organization’s  employees
