Extranet

 Extranet refers to those information that can be accessed by authorized people outside the organization or company such as collaborators, suppliers or major customers but information is not available to everyone with an internet communication only those with password access (Dave chaffey 2002). 

Also if the information is extended to some others but not everyone beyond the organization this is an extranet and Extranet formed by extending an intranet beyond a company to customers suppliers and collaborators. For example in digital age corporate communication manager can easily communicate and pass information via internet to those external individuals but only people related and have access to the organization password (Kenneth & Carol 2007)
Importance of extranet to corporate communication in digital age

Information sharing made simple a corporate communication manager without extranet may share files with outside parties via email but with extranet enables manager to monitor and manages all information and shares easily to the external authorized  individuals via internet but only who can access the password of the organization like competitors or collaborators.
